Mitre USA is teaming up this Summer 2017 with Women’s Amateur Soccer
Women’s Soccer News: The official ball provider for the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL) as well as the United Women’s Soccer (UWS) this season, Mitre is providing FIFA-approved quality match balls.
Ever since 1817, Mitre has been been in the sports world and now the company is making a valiant effort to reenter the USA market. As proof that Mitre has a ball for every level of the beautiful game, the company is showing strong support for women’s soccer and is working with both the WPSL and the UWS.
“We want to be a part of soccer on the grass roots level and be involved with the next generation of national team stars,” says Joe Brefczynski, Mitre USA National Sales Rep. “Mitre knows that women’s soccer in the USA is world renowned and we believe it is essential to be part of the sport.”
Mitre was the offical ball of the MLS for several years and now that we have come back to the U.S. market, we are making a big push,” says Brefczynski. “My goal is to have Mitre be the ball of choice at every level in the American soccer pyramid.”
The Mitre balls are 12 panels and are hand stitched. Each women’s league is playing with a different FIFA approved ball.
The WPSL selected the iconic and internationally acclaimed Ultimax which is the first ball to be recorded at over 100mph and has a 4-way balanced lining system.
“We want to thank Mitre for their support of the WPSL and of the women’s game — and we are very excited to announce this new partnership,” says Jerry Zanelli, Commissioner of the WPSL. “With over 110 teams in the WPSL this season, we look forward to these Mitre balls finding their way into the back of nets all across America.”
The UWS is playing with the Delta VS12 — which has improved stability and aerodynamics for both straight and curved shots and is the same ball as the NPSL is using. The Delta VS12 has a revolutionary, textured grain surface that keeps the ball stable at over 70 mph.
“United Women’s Soccer is excited to partner with Mitre as the Official Ball of UWS,” said League Commissioner Joe Ferrara, Jr. “Mitre has an incredible history in the sport and it is one of the most trusted brands in soccer. The Delta V12S is truly a state-of-the-art soccer ball and it is befitting of our teams, which play and train at the highest level. This ground-breaking partnership is a testament to Mitre’s dedication to the women’s game.”
“We’re ecstatic about partnering with leagues that are giving young women opportunities to pursue their dream of playing soccer on the next level,” says Brefczynski. “Adding both WPSL and UWS to our partners brings us one step closer to that goal.”
