Cal North is Focused on Improving Youth Soccer – Brings on U.S. Soccer Expert To Help Train
Youth soccer news – Matthew Madeira, Executive Director of Cal North, brings on U.S. Soccer Head Scout Carlos Juarez as new Technical Director.
Cal North’s Executive Director Matthew Madeira is proud to announce the hiring of new Technical Director Carlos Juarez. The Lead Scout for the U.S. Men’s National Team, Juarez has worked directly with our country’s head coach Jurgen Klinsmann and has extensive experience in coaching.
Juarez will lead Cal North in the areas of Coaching Education, Olympic Development (ODP), and serving the needs of recreational and competitive programs. As the scout for the USA, Juarez will provide Cal North’s ODP with invaluable insight and significant player development leadership.
Juarez has many years of coaching experience at all levels including professionally, collegiately, and club coaching responsibilities which include entry level recreation. Juarez has worked with Youth National Teams, Olympic Development, and is an instructional leader for US Soccer Coaching Education for all license levels. In addition, Juarez has identified players for the MLS and played himself for many years collegiately and in senior level play.
“Coaching has always been, and is especially now, an important cornerstone for all levels of soccer,” said Madeira who tirelessly searched for the best person to assume the responsibility of Technical Director for Cal North’s more than 166,000 plus soccer players.
“With the onset of the U.S. Soccer’s Player Development Initiatives, it became more apparent than ever that one single strong coaching voice is necessary for us to achieve our long term goal,” said Madeira whose focus is on growing the sport of soccer in Northern California.
“Following an extensive world wide search which started in June, we are pleased to announce that Carlos Juarez is our new Technical Director,” continued Madeira. “Carlos brings a wealth of experience, knowledge, expertise, and enthusiasm to the position that we feel will be a tremendous benefit to all of our Cal North membership. Carlos has a unique background that includes soccer knowledge from the very beginning recreational level up to and through National Team play. We look forward to his leadership and expertise in directing the coaching program for Cal North.”
“I am excited and look forward to the opportunity to work for Cal North,” said Juarez. “My passion has always been coaching soccer and this position gives me the best scenario to share my experiences and knowledge with many players and coaches.”
Soccer has always been a part of Juarez’s life — he grew up watching his father play soccer in the first division in Guatemala. Coaching the game he loves passionately is a great pleasure for Juarez who believes firmly that being a coach requires you to be able to teach the game.
“Carlos has been to the top of the mountain — working with Jurgen, and he believes strongly in the importance of recreational youth soccer, and that it is the entry way to the sport for millions of children all across America,” said Madeira. “This marks a new beginning for soccer in Cal North.”
