Forward Tara Andrews Earns Golden Boot and Scoring Champion
Tara Andrews is a veteran Australian soccer player who has had an incredible career thus far. She was the Australian U20 National team captain and forward on the Australian W-League’s Newcastle Jets. She was only 15 years old when she earned her first professional cap. At 19, Andrews signed with W-League’s Colorado Pride. During her first season with Pride, Tara Andrews scored 6 goals in 11 games. Now, adding onto her accolades, Andrews has earned honors in the Western Conference Championships.
Soccer News: Colorado Pride forward Tara Andrews has earned both Golden Boot and Scoring Champion honors for 2015 after leading the W-League with 18 goals and three assists for 39 points in 11 games played for the Western Conference champions. Charlotte Lady Eagles forward Leah Fortune finished second in both categories with 12 goals and 30 points in nine matches.
Andrews, in her second season with the Pride, has been consistent all season and was one of only two players to earn three W-League Team of the Week selections. She was named Player of the Week in the season’s third week after a five-goal performance against Arizona. A standout with the Newcastle Jets in the Australian W-League, Andrews scored both goals Saturday as the Pride traveled to Seattle and defeated the Sounders Women 2-1 to earn their first trip to the W-League Championship in only their second season.
