Massachusetts State House Honors U.S. Women’s National Team Goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher
Soccer News: Boston Breakers goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher was honored Wednesday at the Massachusetts State House in recognition of her success with the U.S. Women’s National Team and winning the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
House Speaker Robert DeLeo presented Naeher with a letter of recognition from the Massachusetts House of Representatives inside House Chambers. More than 100 representatives were on hand and gave Naeher a rousing standing ovation as she was introduced at the rostrum by Speaker DeLeo.
Members of the Boston Breakers were also on hand inside House Chambers and were presented with a recognition letter for their contributions to the Commonwealth and success inspiring female athletes.
“Today was an incredible experience. It was an absolute honor to be recognized by the Speaker of the House for our world championship this summer,” Naeher said. “I truly appreciated the overwhelming support from all the representatives. Thank you so much for welcoming my Boston Breakers teammates and me to the State House today for a very memorable moment.”
Prior to entering House Chambers, Speaker DeLeo, Senate President Stanley Rosenberg, and Governor Charlie Baker held a meet-and-greet in Speaker DeLeo’s office with Naeher and the Breakers.
