“The Best of the Best” Is The Largest Youth Soccer Tournament In San Diego
Celebrating its 35 year, Surf Cup is a nationally recognized premier youth soccer tournament, rated among the top two in the United States.
This weekend’s games will feature more than 690 boys and girls teams in the Under-10 to Under-14 age groups participating at two locations, the San Diego Polo Fields and the Oceanside So-Cal Sports Complex. Players and families are visiting from 28 states and four countries (United States, Canada, Mexico and Guam). This is a Class I tournament; open to USYSA, US Club Soccer, Super Y League and FIFA affiliated teams.
Economic data released from San Diego State University in April 2015 announced that sporting events hosted by Surf Cup Sports generates more than 85,000 booked hotel rooms and brings more than 490,000 visitors to San Diego annually; more than the Rock ‘N’ Roll Marathon, and just less than Comic Con.
“Since our founding 35 years ago as an all-star club for San Diego’s best youth soccer players, Surf has evolved into a national powerhouse in the youth soccer community, combining a successful club, a world-class sports event and facility management company,” said Mike Connerley, President and Tournament Director of Surf Cup Sports.
