San Diego Sockers Dominate Turlock With Home Victory
The Sockers defeated Turlock Express in dominating fashion as the San Diego club maintains its outstanding form in the 2018/19 MASL season. The Pacific Division-leading Sockers improved to 10-1 and are on an eight-game winning streak.
MASL Soccer News: The San Diego Sockers defeated Turlock Express in a 12-4 rout at Ron Newman Field at Pechanga Arena on Sunday night.
Kraig Chiles recorded a hat-trick and Leonardo De Oliveira added five assists as the Sockers continue their winning streak to eight matches.
Brandon Escoto, Brian Farber and Taylor Bond each scored two goals, while goalkeeper Boris Pardo tallied 10 saves to earn his MASL-best 10th victory. Martyn Arista, Matthew Germain and Victor Parra were the goalscorers for Turlock. Arista recorded a brace in the Sunday matchup.
Bond opened the scoring at 5:07 off of DeOliveira’s first assist of the night. It was the first time in six matches that the Sockers found the back of the net first. Luis “PeeWee” Ortega and Felipe Gonzalez extended their point streaks with goals to end the opening quarter. The Sockers led 3-1 heading into the second period.
SanDiego exploded for six goals in the second quarter and closed the half with a 9-3 advantage. Chiles recorded his three goals, while Escoto, Farber and Bond also found the net.
Neither team scored again until the final quarter of the match. Escoto and Farber tallied their second of the night, while Christian Gutierrez added a late goal to finish the scoring.
San Diego will return to action with back-to-back road contests to start February.
On February 7th, the Sockers travel up I-15 to meet the Ontario Fury prior to playing the Express the following night in Turlock. The Sockers next home game is Friday, February 15, at 7:35 p.m. PT against the Tacoma Stars.
