NPSL Soccer News: The National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) has announced Viejos Son Los Trapos FC (Saint Paul, MN) as the league’s latest expansion team set to compete in the Midwest Region’s North Conference.
“We are very happy to see the NPSL brand grow again in Minnesota,” NPSL Chairman Joe Barone commented. “Our fans and supporters should be excited to be part of this soccer hotbed. VSLT FC brings a great deal to our league and we are very happy to have them as part of the NPSL family.”
VSLT FC is led by General Manager Juan Fiz and head coach Sebastian Molina.
Fabian Omana, Arresse Alejandro, Ayora Pedro, DeLaMora Alejandro and Mendez Gilberto will serve as the club’s board members.
Fiz played in the NPSL in prior years and was named to the 2007 and 2008 NPSL All-Star Teams as a member of the Minnesota TwinStars.
“The expectations are big as this is the first time raising the level for a Latin team in the Twins Cities,” Fiz added. “Over the years we hope to become one of the strongest team of the region.”
VSLT FC played in the Minnesota Amateur Soccer League last season, winning the second division with a record of 13-2-3 and boasting a +32 goal differential. The club will play its home games at Central Stadium in Saint Paul.
“We bring the passion of Latin American players and fans to the table of high competition, guaranteeing a different philosophy, one that is based on team strategies that have worked for years in our local leagues,” Fiz concluded.
