Second Seed Chattanooga Hosts Miami Fusion FC In A Bid For Region Finals
On July 11th, Chattanooga FC defeated the Atlanta Silverbacks Reserve 3-0—winning the Southeast Region Championship and moving onto the next round of the NPSL playoffs. This win marked the fifth time the team has won the Southeast Region Championship. The club looks to qualify for the playoffs once more, however for now they must face third seed Miami Fusion FC in the NPSL South Region Semifinals.
Soccer News: This weekend is the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) South Region Semifinals. Chattanooga Football Club will face off against Miami Fusion FC in Finley Stadium at 7:30 pm on Saturday, July 18.
“We’re very proud of the team for winning home field advantage again this week,” said General Manager Sean McDaniel. “Every game matters – if you don’t perform well, your season is over. Our guys took the first step to win the Southeast Conference, now they are focused on winning the South Region.”
Chattanooga FC clinched its fourth straight Southeast Conference Championship (and fifth overall) last Saturday with a 3-0 victory over second seeded Atlanta Silverbacks Reserves. They are now the second seed in the NPSL South Region and will take on third seeded Miami Fusion who won the Sunshine Conference. Number one seed Myrtle Beach Mutiny of the South Atlantic Conference will host FC Wichita who won the South Central Conference.
Pre-sale tickets to the game in Finley are for sale online at $8.00 until midnight Wednesday. Tickets go to $10 Thursday through Saturday (online or at the gate). Ticket info can be found online.
Fans should know: 2015 season ticket wristbands, passes or jerseys are no longer valid for free entry to NPSL Region and National playoff matches.
The winners of the Region Semifinals will face off in the Region Finals on Saturday, July 25. The higher seeded team will host, so if CFC does win, and Wichita can upset Myrtle Beach, there could be another Region Championship game in Finley.
But CFC is not counting their chickens before they hatch. “The competition will continue to get better and better,” said Head Coach Bill Elliott. “We have to perform at the highest level in each game in order to have an opportunity to advance. The teams that make it to this level in the postseason are extremely talented. Winning will not be easy.”
Chattanooga FC won the South Region last year, defeating Tulsa Athletics 2-0 at home.
They then defeated Sacramento Gold (2014 West Region winner) at home in front of 8,898 fans to launch the team into the National Final against the New York Red Bulls U23 team.
Standings and Region/National playoff dates and seedings and structure can be found on the NPSL website.
