Soccer News: Match Re-Scheduled for June Due to Heavy Rain and Flooding in North Houston
Due to the recent heavy rains and subsequent flooding in the North Houston area, Houston Dutch Lions officials along with league administrators have decided that in the best interest of players and fans, the game between the visiting Laredo Heat and the Houston Dutch Lions scheduled for Saturday, May 16, 2015 will be postponed to Thursday, June 11, 2015.
The new date for the game will have the Laredo Heat playing in the Houston area twice in three days, with the second match being the previously scheduled game on Saturday, June 13, 2015.
“One always dislikes changes in schedules or our daily lives but in this case, it is easy to understand the decision made by the Houston Dutch Lions and the PDL, player safety should always come first and hopefully there is no extensive damage to the Dutch Lions new soccer complex”, said Heat General Manager J.J. Vela.
“This postponement helps us to a certain extent in order to prepare better for the 2nd Round Open Cup Match versus the Austin Aztex next Wednesday in the Capital City but adds one more game to an already heavy schedule of games in June”.
