NWSL Soccer News: The National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) unveiled the complete 2017 regular-season schedule for its historic fifth campaign, which opens play on the weekend of April 15-16 and concludes on September 30th.
The complete 2017 NWSL Schedule can be found here.
The NWSL will play a 24-game regular-season schedule with each team playing 12 home and 12 away games while competing in a single table.
Fans across the country will be able to view the NWSL Game of the Week on Lifetime every Saturday, which also includes a 30-minute pregame show. In addition, NWSL Media – the league’s joint venture with A+E Networks – will provide live streams of all games in high definition on a soon to be announced platform, and launch a redesigned website and new NWSL app for iOS and Android.
Rivalries, regional travel and competitive parity were all included in the scheduling process as each club will play three games against six opponents and meet the other three teams twice. Each team will host every other club in the NWSL at least once.
The NWSL will observe international FIFA dates on three occasions during the 2017 season as players return to their national teams during the weekends of June 10-11, July 29-30 and Sept. 16-17. This gesture is designed to ensure the league’s growing pool of international talent will be available for every match and allow fans to experience the best competition and highest level of women’s professional soccer.
There will be no extended breaks during the 2017 season as there were during the two previous seasons to accommodate participation of players in the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup and the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Complete playoff details will be announced at a later date.
