Spotlight on ASC San Diego Competing in Round One of the 2020 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup
As proof that soccer has reached new heights of popularity in America, this year’s U.S. Soccer’s 2020 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup 107th edition of the history-filled annual tournament will kick off with a record number of teams.
ASC San Diego has earned one of the coveted NPSL slots in the first round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. The kick off is on March 24 and the best amateur teams will be competing against a record number of professional soccer clubs for the most important trophy offered by U.S. Soccer.
America’s Finest City’s team, ASC San Diego plays for the City of San Diego
According to U.S. Soccer, one hundred teams will take part in the 2020 Open Cup, an increase of 16 over last year and it is a long road to the final but, it is soccer in America and anything is possible.

ASC San Diego will take on Chula Vista on March 24 at 6 PM.
The match will be played at ASC San Diego’s home field for the tournament: Triton Soccer Stadium at UC San Diego in La Jolla, California.
If ASC San Diego defeats Chula Vista FC and advances, they will take on NISA’s San Diego based team, 1904 FC.

ASC San Diego is the professional club of Albion Soccer Club, one of San Diego’s oldest youth soccer clubs. Founded in Point Loma in 1981, this professional team was launched in 2015 to complete a full pyramid strategy for player development. ASC San Diego competes in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) and qualified for the U.S. Open Cup in 2018, 2019 and once again in 2020.
