San Diego Sockers Record Road Victory Versus Turlock Express
The San Diego Sockers recorded their third consecutive victory of the 2018/19 MASL season in dominating fashion versus Turlock Express on Friday night. The Sockers have recorded five wins and one loss this season as they return to San Diego to host Pacific Division rival, Ontario Fury.
MASL Soccer News: The San Diego Sockers defeated Turlock Express, 8-1, on Friday night at the Turlock Indoor Center in Northern California. The Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) matchup was San Diego’s first of the weekend as the club hosts the Ontario Fury on Saturday night.
The Sockers were led by seven goalscorers to cruise past a Turlock Express side that played a match in Ontario the night before.
After conceding a goal at the 1:58 mark, San Diego rallied to secure the win. Boris Pardo made six saves to improve his record to 5-1 and lower his GAA to 3.33. Turlock’s opening goal was the first time the Sockers have trailed in the first quarter this season.
Brandon Escoto, who recorded a brace on the night, started the Sockers offensive rally with his first goal at the 4:23 mark in the first quarter. Chad Hagerty, Ze Roberto, Eddie Velez, Taylor Bond, Travis Pittman and Christian Gutierrez added goals to increase the lead to 7-1, with Escoto closing out the half for an 8-1 lead.
San Diego cruised in the second half by maintaining possession and with stellar defense.
Leading scorer Kraig Chiles and several others did not travel to Turlock to prepare for Saturday’s anticipated matchup against the Ontario Fury at Ron Newman Field at Pechanga Arena San Diego. Kickoff is at 7:05 p.m. PT.
