Soccer News: Samuel Goni Earns Player of the Week Honors
Chattanooga FC midfielder/forward Samuel Goni has been named the eleventh Mitre National Player of the Week for the 2015 National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) season.
Goni scored a hat trick on June 6 in Chattanooga’s 4-0 victory over the New Orleans Jesters at Pan American Stadium in New Orleans.
The Marcilla, Spain native has a total of five goals and six assists for Chattanooga this season. He played in both the U.S. Open Cup and the U.S. Soccer National Amateur Championship, the latter won by Chattanooga FC with a 3-0 victory over the PDL’s Michigan Bucks.
Goni is also a standout at Tennessee’s Bethel University, where he tallied nine goals and five assists in 2014. He was named the SSAC Freshman of the Year and named to the SSAC First Team All-Conference squad.
