Club Tijuana U17 Loses in First Leg of Apertura Semifinals
The Xolos U17 squad fell in the first leg of the Apertura semifinals as CD Guadalajara edged the visiting side 4-0 at the Verde Valle facilities. Club Tijuana heads home as they prepare to host the Chivas de Guadalajara in the second match on Sunday.
Soccer News: Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles U17 played to a 4-0 loss versus CD Guadalajara on Thursday in the first leg of the LIGA MX 2016 Apertura semifinals.
Jose Macias, Luis Olivas, Cristian Cruz and Alexis Gutierrez scored for Chivas de Guadalajara at the Verde Valle facilities as the host club takes a 4-0 advantage in the two-match series.
Macias opened the scoring in the 18th minute sprinting into the penalty box and beating Xolos goalkeeper Carlos Higuera. Olivas extended the lead in the 41st when he sent in a header from inside the penalty area.
Chivas found the back of the net early in the second half when Cruz sent in a powerful shot for a 3-0 lead. The Xoloitzcuintles had a chance to tighten the scoreline, but Daniel Lopez missed a penalty kick in the second half. Chivas closed out the scoring with a Gutierrez goal in the 54th minute.
Club Tijuana, coached by Gilberto Mora, will host the second leg on Sunday (1 p.m. PT) at Estadio Caliente. Admission to the game is free.
