Women’s Super League in England is Canceled
Another in a long series, now England’s top women’s professional soccer season is canceled.
Ever since the Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic was declared, the world has seen unprecedented changes in an uncertain environment in which the only constant is change.
On May 25, England announced that it was canceling the Women’s Super League. The second-tier Women’s Championship was also canceled.
Unlike other cancellations, this announement was made with the full support of the teams.
In England, the women’s teams are looking ahead to the next season.
Where does that leave the teams and their rankings?
- Manchester City leads the league by a point
- Chelsea was just behind Man City
- Defending champion Arsenal was lagging behind
According to London AP, “if the league was decided on average points per game, Chelsea would win the title.”
