Soccer News: Sky Blue FC of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) announced today that it has created a philanthropic partnership with Go4theGoal, which serves a mission to improve lives of children battling cancer. As part of the relationship, Sky Blue FC coaches and staff will participate in Go4theGoal’s Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer® program by wearing gold laces at their July 9th home match against the Houston Dash.
“Through this partnership with Go4theGoal, we hope to increase awareness for the many great programs that the organization operates,” said Tony Novo, Sky Blue FC President & General Manager. “We encourage members of our fan base to also join the Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer® initiative with us on July 9th by purchasing a piece of their gold gear to wear. The funds go to an incredible cause, and this is a great way for us all to play our part in the fight against pediatric cancer.”
Fans who are interested in purchasing Go4theGoal gold gear in advance of Saturday, July 9th, can do so at the online shop on their official website. There will also be a booth on the Yurcak Field concourse to purchase gold items that evening when Sky Blue FC hosts Houston, where kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
“This is a special event for us,” said Beth Stefanacci, Executive Director for Go4theGoal. “This initiative was born in the soccer community in New Jersey. We are looking forward to being part of a fantastic game and talking to the fans about our mission.”
Go4theGoal was founded in 2006 to improve the lives of pediatric cancer patients by providing financial support, working with hospitals to institute programming for the patients, funding cancer research and granting individual personal wishes. Through programs like Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer® and Spring Into Action 4 a Cure, Go4theGoal has funded over one million dollars for pediatric cancer research and has touched the lives of countless pediatric cancer patients and their families.
