Nonstop Scouting with Sounders FC | Episode 1 | Tokyo
The growth of soccer is amazing — Now an innovative new, cool program explores scouting in the soccer world.
The Seattle Sounders FC and longtime partner Delta Air Lines have teamed up on a new, three-part docuseries – “Nonstop Scouting” – that explores the intersection of travel, culture and soccer.
Sounders FC and Delta, the team’s official airline, are giving fans of the team and the sport an under-the-hood look at how its diverse lineup is built through ‘Nonstop Scouting’ – which follows the travels of Chris Henderson, Sounders FC’s vice president of soccer and sporting director, in his search for the team’s next star player.
Directed by J.J. Kelley – a two-time Emmy-nominated filmmaker, host of an upcoming series on Travel Channel, and senior producer and correspondent for National Geographic Channel’s documentary series “Explorer” – ‘Nonstop Scouting’ follows Henderson, who is deeply involved in scouting and player development for the team and travels the world in search of burgeoning soccer talent.
In the first episode, Henderson attends club practices and a match in Tokyo to see top local talent and shares how the Japanese tradition of precise, sharp, strong soccer can make an impact in his organization.
The final two installments will examine the transformative culture and inspired soccer traditions in Seoul and Reykjavik. Each episode explores the culture and evolution of soccer, capturing Chris’ insights and interactions with the people, the country, and the game.
“This game connects me to the world,”Chris Henderson, former United States Men’s National team midfielder
“When I travel, there’s always something special if I played there before. You connect two worlds – the scouting and the management world with the former playing world – I love that part of it,” said Henderson.
