Sockers Take On Bitter Rivals
The San Diego Sockers take on the Las Vegas Legends in a single-elimination playoff for the Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) Pacific Division championship.
The Sockers lacked very little since the team was restored. They have some of the best practice and game facilities in the Professional Arena Soccer League, a large fan base, a smart ownership group and high-quality players – all of which has helped the team win four straight championships.
The only thing the Sockers truly lacked was a rival.
Until the Las Vegas Legends that is. The Legends were 2012-13 PASL Southwest Division Champions and 2013-14 PASL Pacific Division Champions. The rivalry began in 2013 when the Sockers eliminated the Legends from the playoffs in overtime.
This season the Sockers are 2-2-0 against the Legends. Winning both home games and losing both away games; which also snapped their nine-game winning streak. This makes playing the Legends on their home turf an advantage for the championship game.
KFMB-TV’s Barbara Lee Edwards will be delivering the ceremonial first kick.
The Sockers and their fans are pumped up for an intense game. It will be an exciting head to head match.
