Internationals SC’S Taylor Huff Selected to ODP Training Camp
Internationals SC talent continues to break through the ranks as the latest player is called to the 2017 US Youth Soccer ODP Girls National Training Camp. The four-day event welcomed 200 top athletes to Arizona for a weekend of competition against he US Youth Soccer Regions.
Youth Soccer News: Internationals SC standout Taylor Huff has been selected to participate in the 2017 US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program (ODP) Girls National Training Camp that concludes January 30th at the Reach 11 Sports Complex in Phoenix, Arizona.
“We are thrilled to see Taylor Huff representing our club and Region II at the ODP National Camp this week,” Internationals SC Director of Coaching Keri Sarver commented. “Taylor has been putting in the work and has prepared for this opportunity. It is exciting for us to see our players reaching their goals!”
The US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program (ODP) was formed to identify players of the highest caliber on a continuing and consistent basis. While there are many paths to developing players in the USA, the ODP has a long history of helping players train and become successful.
Huff is among more than 200 top athletes that have been selected from the 2002 and 2003 age groups to represent each of the four US Youth Soccer Regions in the four-day event.
The ODP was formed in 1977 to identify a pool of players in each age group from which a National Team will be selected for international competition; to provide high-level training to benefit and enhance the development of players at all levels; and, through the use of carefully selected and licensed coaches, develop a mechanism for the exchange of ideas and curriculum to improve all levels of coaching.
In 1979, ODP expanded, the organization became more efficient and multi-year plans were developed. US Youth Soccer State associations were encouraged to develop programs which supported and worked in tandem with national and regional programs. At the beginning of 1982 a formalized program for girls was created, with the addition of a full committee.
Now, as U.S. Soccer kicks off the Girls Development Academy this fall, additional pathways for youth soccer player identification and recognition will be added to the mix.
