France Wins World Cup – Here Are the Odds
Kylian Mbappé and Paul Pogba made the difference for France and helped earn the country’s second World Cup.
Soccer News: The 2018 World Cup is now over and France’s 19-year-old Kylian Mbappé is the youngest player to score in a World Cup final since Pelé accomplished this back in 1958, and Didier Deschamps, the manager of France’s national team since 2012 is only the third person in history to hold the trophy as player and manager.
Goals by France’s Antoine Griezmann (38′ PK), Paul Pogba (59′) and Kylian Mbappe (65′) came after Croatia’s Mario Mandzukic‘s tragic own goal — the result of his efforts to defend. Mandzukic’s goal in the 18’ minute was equalized perhaps by his goal for Croatia late in the game, in the 69th minute. Ivan Perisic (28′) also scored for Croatia.
This was a dramatic, hard-fought match in a very unpredictable and entertaining World Cup.
This is France’s second World Cup victory — earning the gold twenty years after their first victory.
The final was an amazing match with Croatia never giving up and scoring a goal even after they were down 4-1.
In the beginning, France looked methodical while Croatia had possession — in fact 61% possession with 7 shots on goal in the first half. But the game of soccer is nothing if not dynamic. Things change.
France achieved their goal of becoming the World Cup champions with relentless hard work. France will also now be known for giving chances to a brilliant young player — Mbappé who did not disappoint and proved his ability to score a superb and decisive goal.
The World Cup final match-up between France and Croatia proved to be a spectacular game, leaving fans across the globe far from disappointed.
