Venezuelan National Joins Miami FC’s Young Talent Pool
Miami FC sign Roberto Alterio as they prepare for the 2016 NASL season. Miami are preparing for its inaugural season in the league and continue to sign young talent in Venezuelan international Alterio.
Soccer News: Miami FC announced today that former Caracas FC midfielder Roberto Alterio will be joining the team for its debut season.
Alterio, 25, started his career in Venezuela at 14 years old at the Centro Italiano Venezolano and had his first big break when he nailed a spot on the roster for the U-17 national team in 2006. The Venezuelan native appeared in several national and international tournaments during his time with the youth division, including the Pan-American Games, Ciudad de Quito Cup and the Chivas International Cup.
“Roberto had some great plays in the open and invitational tryouts,” said Alessandro Nesta, Miami FC head coach. “His performance and hard-work made it clear that Miami FC was the team for him, and I’m more than happy to have him on board. His extensive background in the Venezuelan leagues is a great addition to our team’s dynamic.”
Prior to joining Miami FC, the midfielder played with University of South Florida, Florida International University and Conference USA. Alterio was a consistent team leader in goals scored and made appearances in the Big East Conference Tournament and the NCAA National Tournament.
“There aren’t enough words to really say how happy I am to start my professional career in the states with Miami FC,” Alterio said. “I’m so thankful for the opportunity to work with such talented players and a staff that is invested in making this team a success.”
Player announcements will continue to be released as the Miami FC gears up for the 2016 NASL season.
