Fontana International SC Becomes Newest Member of Rapidly Expanding UPSL for 2016 Winter Season
Steady Growth Continues with New Entry from the Inland Empire for 2016
The United Premier Soccer League today announced the newest addition to the league for the upcoming season – Fontana International Soccer Club. The team, which was founded in 2003 has grown tremendously over the last decade. Starting out at as a U-13 boys team, the club has progressed through numerous stages to get to where they are today. Fontana International SC currently boasts U-9, U-13, U-14 and U-17 sides and has been dedicated to teaching young kids the beauty of football – simultaneously creating a culture to keep them off the streets and on the pitch. Fans should check out Fontana’s Facebook page.
The introduction into the UPSL is a big step for the club. Fontana International has always been a club that has developed players from a young age – and with this step, the Fontana players will be able to showcase their skills against some of the best amateur players from around the country.
Norman Zeledon, the Founder and Head Coach of the team is looking forward to his side competing in the UPSL. “We are very excited to become a member of the UPSL as we know this league is the best solution to provide our club the professional level that our organization is looking for. We want to be part of a Pro Development league and have found the perfect match. Our goal is to give an opportunity to all the talented players in our region to play at the highest level. Currently, we are working hard on building our squad as we are looking at many players now as we approach the season opener. The team has been hard at work as they prepare for the upcoming season in the New Year. We are training four days a week, doing mountain and beach pre-season workouts and playing some friendly matches to prepare our team as best as we can.”
United Premier Soccer League Commissioner Yan Skwara said. “We are excited to have Fontana International SC become a member of the UPSL for the upcoming 2016 winter campaign. They are a very well rounded club from top to bottom and will do well in our league with all the talent that they as a club are able to develop internally. We wish Fontana International SC the best of success this season and are excited to have Fontana International as part of our Regional Pro Development League.”
The United Premier Soccer League was formed only a few years ago, in 2011. The UPSL currently operates 40 plus teams all based in Southern California, Nevada, and Arizona with aggressive development plans for 50 plus teams targeted for the 2016 Spring campaign. With the addition of new clubs, the United Premier Soccer League is Southern California’s fastest growing Pro Development League. Each UPSL team is individually owned and operated, and is responsible for maintaining UPSL minimum standards.
In addition, all UPSL teams are all eligible to participate in the U.S. Open Cup Qualifying Rounds through their affiliation with the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA).
