The Empire State Building to Shine for NYCFC vs Red Bulls Matchup
The Empire State Building will shine in commemoration of MLS Rivalry Week as NYCFC host the New York Red Bulls at Yankee Stadium on Saturday. New York City FC currently sit at the top of the Eastern Conference with NY Red Bulls looking to climb its way up the table from the fifth position.
Soccer News: The Empire State Building, in partnership with FOX Sports, will celebrate Major League Soccer’s Rivalry Week match between New York City FC and the New York Red Bulls by illuminating its world-famous tower lights in the teams’ colors on Friday, May 20.
The tower lights will be split with the East/West sides of the building lit in New York City FC blue and orange and North/South sides in New York Red Bulls red and white.
New York City FC currently sit in first in the Eastern Conference with the New York Red Bulls trailing in fifth place. NYCFC will be led by David Villa who is tied for most goals in the MLS along with Sebastian Giovinco of Toronto FC and Fanendo Adi of the Portland Timbers as each have tallied eight goals in the 2016 campaign.
The Red Bulls are coming off a win at Red Bull Arena versus the Chicago Fire that concluded 1-0 for the home side. Mike Grella scored the game-winning goal for New York as he leads his team with four goals in the 2016 season.
The match is set for Yankee Stadium on Saturday, May 21 at 3:00 p.m. ET and will be televised live on FOX.
